A delegation of representatives from European Union (EU) Member States is scheduled to visit the Republic of Korea from 10th to 14th March 2025. This study visit, organised under the Digital Partnerships in Action (DPA) project, aims to facilitate knowledge exchange on cybersecurity skills and higher education.
The visit will encompass several key activities:
- Engagement with South Korean Entities: Meetings are planned with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), leading universities such as the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), prominent tech hubs like Pangyo Techno Valley, and the Korea Information Technology Research Institute (KITRI). Discussions will address the current state of cybersecurity higher education and opportunities for cooperation.
- Roundtable Workshops: Half-day sessions will cover topics such as bridging the cybersecurity skills gap, the role of public-private partnerships, and curriculum modernisation for future challenges.
- Networking Opportunities: To enhance collaboration, the programme may include networking events, including dinners, social and cultural experiences, and, if coinciding with relevant events, participants may attend them as part of the visit.
An open call for applications – closed on the 17th of January – has been shared through the National Coordination Centres (NCCs) of Working Group 5 on cybersecurity skills of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC). Each NCC is invited to submit two applications. Applicants must demonstrate active involvement in the development of cybersecurity skills, research, or policy within the EU and explain how participation in the programme would benefit the EU cybersecurity workforce and/or skills development in the field of cybersecurity. The selection announcements is expected by the end of January 2025.
