The INSTAR Team is proud to announce the publication of of its roadmaps factsheets, documents that exemplify the specific priorities defined by each European Task Force in each domain, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity and Digital Identity, Data Technologies, Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge Computing, Quantum Technologies, and 5G/6G.
What are the ETFs Roadmaps?
The INSTAR roadmaps serve as strategic frameworks that identify and align the EU's priorities with those of international partners, creating actionable pathways to influence global ICT standardisation.
Aligning on international standardisation roadmaps is critical for Europe to ensure its priorities are reflected in global standards, paving the way to more innovation and increased competitiveness.
These roadmaps are specifically designed to engage experts from standardisation bodies, policymakers, and industries, providing a common platform to guide collaboration, harmonise objectives, and shape the future of global ICT standards. This proactive approach allows Europe to lead and remain a key player in the development of standards that underpin technology adoption, interoperability, and fair market conditions on a global scale.
Key Highlights from the Roadmaps
Each roadmap identifies specific priorities and outlines recommendations tailored to its domain:
- AI Roadmap: Focuses on ethical AI frameworks, compliance with EU regulations, cross-cutting standards for interoperability and cybersecurity, and guidelines for human-AI collaboration.
- Cybersecurity and eID Roadmap: Highlights quantum-resistant cryptography, IoT product security, and the promotion of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) for cross-border interoperability.
- Data Technologies Roadmap: Addresses data governance, interoperability in data spaces, and frameworks for trusted data transactions.
- IoT/Edge/Cloud Roadmap: Emphasises the development of energy-efficient devices, IoT and Edge architecture considerations, and secure consumer wireless products.
- Quantum Technologies Roadmap: Focuses on standards for quantum communication, computing, and metrology, including secure quantum key distribution (QKD) and integration with post-quantum cryptography.
- 5G+/6G Roadmap: Aims to bridge standardisation gaps and foster international cooperation to accelerate the development and deployment of 6G technologies.
